Crystal Palace are "desperate" to keep Eberechi Eze and will consider opening contract talks with the midfield ace to fend off interest in him this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Eze only signed his last deal at Selhurst Park in November 2023, but his release clause of £60million plus add-ons is attracting interest from top clubs.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 August) that Crystal Palace are concerned the 26-year-old will join the exodus of star players - with Michael Olise gone and Marc Guehi potentially joining Newcastle.

The Croydon club could re-enter negotiations with Eze to remove or increase the midfielder's release clause - which is only available to Champions League sides.

Eze's current deal at Selhurst Park runs until June 2028.

Crystal Palace could prevent Eze joining exodus with new contract

Liverpool and Tottenham hold a long-term interest in the England international, who featured at Euro 2024 earlier this summer, and could move in the latter stages of the transfer window

Sources say Palace boss Oliver Glasner would regard Eze's potential exit as a “major blow” – even if big money were to be given to him and his transfer team as a result.

He notched 11 goals and six assists in 31 games across all competitions last term.

Olise joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer after starring for Palace last term, while Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (6 August) that Newcastle have agreed personal terms with captain Guehi.

Talks are ongoing between clubs over a deal worth an initial £50million, which will rise to over £60million with add-ons.
