With all the talk about Martin Skrtel, Oli McBurnie and Harry Wilson, one name seems to be flying under the Rangers radar – Eddie Nketiah.
However, that could be set to change as Football Whispers, the renowned global transfer experts, have claimed that the Arsenal forward is Rangers’ next most likely signing.
The Sun has claimed that the Gunners are prepared to send both Nketiah and Reiss Nelson out on loan and now the 18-year-old striker has been linked with an Ibrox move.
Nketiah has made 10 appearances for Arsenal this season, and made an instant impact when he scored both goals in the 2-1 Carabao Cup win against Norwich.
The youngster signed a new contract in December worth £15,000-a-week.
Football Whispers, which collates all transfer information from around the world and grades it in terms of likelihood to happen says that it’s 3.3/5 to happen this summer – which is a higher chance than Martin Skrtel coming to Ibrox, graded at 3.1/5.
Football Insider verdict:
If this was going to happen he would have to have his move heavily subsidised, although Arsenal might well see this as worth it for the player’s development. Playing under Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister at Rangers, in the high-pressure atmosphere of Ibrox is the perfect place for a youngster to develop and he would add depth to the squad. However, Nketiah isn’t going to be the number one striker for Rangers. They need better than that and someone that can hit 20+ goals in the league. Someone like Oli McBurnie or Jermain Defoe.
