Sources: Millwall agree Filip Marschall deadline-day deal

Millwall have agreed a deal for Stevenage goalkeeper Filip Marschall, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old will undergo a medical on Tuesday morning ahead of completing a move to The Den.

The England youth international joined Stevenage last summer from Aston Villa, having been on several loans to the lower leagues.

Marschall was a joint-winner of League One's golden glove with 19 clean sheets in 45 games, conceding just 43 goals.

Millwall have been looking for a goalkeeper to replace the injured Lukas Jensen, who is expected to miss an extended period after pulling his quad in training.

New Zealand international Max Crocombe started against Southampton in his place on Saturday and conceded five goals.

Marschall had enjoyed a strong season in League Two with Crewe Alexandra in the 2024-25 season, encouraging Stevenage to give him the opportunity to perform in League One.

That he did, keeping 19 clean sheets and playing a key part in a campaign that saw his team finish in the play-off spots.

Stevenage would ultimately be knocked out at the semi-final stage by Stockport County, but he has clearly caught eyes in the league above.

And at just 23, there is still plenty of development for Marschall to undergo.

Last season, he faced 130 shots in League One, making 85 saves at a 66.4 per cent save percentage.

There were two errors that led to goal that Marschall will need to cut out at Millwall, but there are plenty of positives to take as well.

The former England youth international prevented 3.70 goals over the course of the season - better than nearly 86 per cent of the rest of the league - and is comfortable with the ball at feet.

Marschall is also somewhat a penalty specialist, saving two of the three he faced last season.

Marschall must make quick Championship adaptation

Marschall can expect to be thrown in fairly quickly for Millwall after Crocombe's difficult day against Southampton.

The 23-year-old is joining a club with their sights firmly set on promotion to the Premier League, and a speedy adaptation will be crucial.

Marschall has never played at the Championship level, but the task is ultimately the same.

Keep the ball out of the back of the net, and the new Lion will become an instant fan favourite.
