Norwich City are considering a move to sign Hull City left-back Ryan Giles this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Giles, 26, made 32 appearances and provided eight assists for the Tigers last season as they secured promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs.

However, the defender's contract is set to expire in 2027 and Championship clubs are now circling.

Norwich struggled to find a consistent performer at left-back last season, with Kellen Fisher ultimately ending the season there after Ben Chrisene and loanee Harry Amass had suffered injury issues.

Philippe Clement was appointed in November as the Canaries sat second from bottom of the Championship, winning 19 of 34 games across all competitions and eventually leading his team to a ninth-place finish.

The former Rangers boss is looking to oversee a dramatically improved campaign in his second season and has already welcomed the signing of Bruno Alves on loan from Cruzeiro.

Ryan Giles on Norwich City's radar

Giles began his career with Wolves, coming through as an academy player before making his one and only appearance for the club in 2019.

Several loans followed for the defender, before the 2022-23 season saw him provide 11 Championship assists for Middlesbrough.

That campaign earned him a £5million move to play in the Championship for Luton Town, but he was loaned to Hull in January and later joined permanently in a deal worth around £4.25m.

But even back in the second tier, Giles had to go back out on loan to Middlesbrough, before this season saw him finally settle.

With the 26-year-old's contract situation set to force Hull into a decision, however, he looks to be on the move once more.

Hull City financial issue to force Giles sale

BBC Sport reported this week that Hull are facing the real possibility of starting their first Premier League season in nine years with a six-point deduction.

The Tigers have an overspend of about £6m on their profit and sustainability rules calculation and must find the outstanding fee in player sales before the end of the month.

Giles' contract situation has unfortunately made him a prime candidate to be among the players on the way out.

Norwich will hope to profit this summer, as they look to solve their issues at left-back.
