Phil Parkinson is facing the threat of being sacked by Wrexham as their owners begin to run out of patience, sources have told Football Insider.

Some Wrexham fans have started to turn on Parkinson as his style of play struggles to yield results at the start of the new campaign.

The Red Dragons sit 19th in the Championship after picking up just one win in their first seven league games of the season.

Parkinson's future was plunged into further uncertainty last week as they were thrashed 6-0 away at West Ham for their heaviest defeat under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

The Hollywood owners could choose to relieve him of his duties as Wrexham manager if he is unable to turn their form around in the coming weeks.

Wrexham face another tough test this weekend ahead of the international break as Southampton visit North Wales.

Parkinson is a bona fide club legend at Wrexham, having guided them from the National League to the Championship in the last five years.

He made history last year by leading the club to the second tier as they became the first ever team to achieve three successive promotions in the English Football League.

Wrexham challenged for the playoffs last season, but ultimately missed out by finishing seventh, just two points behind Hull City.

The owners have backed him with big funds in recent seasons, and this summer was no different as they splashed out on the likes of Anthony Patterson, Jacques Ekomie and Callum O'Hare, among others.

Their form must improve soon to justify him staying at the club any longer, but increasing fan pressure could force the owners into an emotional decision.

Birmingham and Wrexham have enjoyed a friendly rivalry in recent seasons, owing to their high-profile American ownership.
