Portsmouth plot Jack Diamond swoop with cut-price Stockport deal on the cards
Championship clubs Portsmouth and Lincoln City are both eyeing a move for Stockport County winger Jack Diamond, sources have told Football Insider.
The pair of second-tier sides are hoping to strike a cut-price deal for the 26-year-old, who is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
Diamond has emerged as one of League One's most effective attacking players in recent years and notched 15 goal involvements in 2025-26.
Stockport wanted a fee in excess of £1million for him back in January, but sources have now indicated that clubs have been alerted to the fact that his price tag has now dropped.
Both Portsmouth and Lincoln are big admirers of the former Sunderland man, and the latter had him on loan in the 2022-23 campaign.
Diamond has been a key figure for Stockport since joining back in 2024, but a move away is now on the cards this summer with clubs circling.

Diamond has made a name for himself in the lower leagues so far in his career, having impressed in the National League, as well as both League Two and League One.
He starred as part of Harrogate Town's first-ever promotion to the EFL back in 2021-22, and has since been a regular feature in the third tier across loan spells with Lincoln and Carlisle.
He enjoyed intermittent spells in the first team at Sunderland, including a solitary appearance in the Championship in 2022-23.
His move to Stockport has seen him reignite his career, and he now looks set to take a step up after County were beaten in the play-off final.
Both Portsmouth and Lincoln are expected to be battling in the lower reaches of the Championship next term, but both parties see Diamond as a player who could come in and make an impact for them.
The wideman excelled at League One level this term, and the chance to sign him for a reduced fee this summer has plenty of clubs tracking him.
Portsmouth in box seat to beat Rangers to deal
Football Insider revealed back in May that Rangers must beat Portsmouth's offer if they are to win the race for Dundee centre-back Luke Graham.
Pompey saw an offer knocked back by Dundee during the winter window, and it is now clear that both parties must usurp that offer if they want to get a deal done this summer.
Portsmouth have been in the box seat to secure the signing of the 22-year-old, but Rangers are not expected to back down without a fight.
John Mousinho and Co. have identified Graham as an ideal option to improve their defence next term, and are working to get a deal in place.
