Sources: Portsmouth agree Abu Kamara deal with Hull City
Portsmouth are set to secure the sensational return of Abu Kamara from Hull City, sources have told Football Insider.
The two clubs have now agreed on a fee for the 23-year-old winger ahead of a potential move back to Fratton Park.
Portsmouth are close to a full agreement over the deal as they look tie up the formalities of what would be an eyecatching return to the club for Kamara.
Kamara previously spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Pompey, where he netted 10 goals in 52 matches.
This helped Portsmouth win the League One title as they returned to the Championship.
Kamara spent last season on loan at La Liga outfit Getafe, where he made 13 appearances.
If all goes through, Kamara will become Portsmouth’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
Is Abu Kamara still good?
Since Kamara’s wonderful season at Fratton Park, the winger has not had the best of times.
In the 2024-25 campaign, he became part of the first-team at Hull, but only scored five times in 37 appearances.
Then, on loan at Getafe, he only made one start in La Liga and played just 248 minutes, in what was an extremely disappointing loan move.
The challenge for John Mousinho will be to re-ignite Kamara’s form, which has seemingly disappeared in recent campaigns.
However, considering that the Portsmouth manager was able to achieve this before, there is every chance this success can be repeated yet again.
What other business could Hull City complete this summer?
Despite overseeing a potential exit, Hull City are still looking to make signings this summer.
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that the Tigers are interested in Crystal Palace’s David Ozoh this transfer window.
A permanent deal is being eyed for the midfielder, with Derby County, FC Koln and Marseille all also interested in a move.
It remains to be seen whether the Eagles are prepared to accept offers after sources say he has impressed new manager Pierre Sage during their pre-season preparations.
However, if a big offer were to come in this summer, there is a feeling that Palace would be happy to let the youngster depart Selhurst Park.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Hull are able to win the race for Ozoh are they prepare for their impending return to the Premier League, with further additions needed if they are to survive the upcoming relegation battle.
