Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria is set to be Steven Gerrard’s fourth signing for Rangers and it is now being reported that he should seal his move to Ibrox within 48 hours.
The Daily Record claims that Ejaria is close to completing his move to Ibrox, with Gerrard still keen on adding Dominic Solanke too.
Solanke has dubbed Gerrard a legend and has admitted he is intrigued as to how he will do in his new job.
“Gerrard’s a legend. He has done so much for Liverpool and for football,” Solanke said.
“I’m happy he has got the Rangers job and it will be good for him. I’m intrigued to see how he’s going to do.”
The report claims that a decision on Solanke hasn’t been made yet and that Jurgen Klopp might prefer him to go to a Premier League team.
Football Insider verdict:
Good news for Rangers and it now looks almost certain that Ejaria will be Rangers’ fourth summer signing after Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy have already joined. Maybe Ejaria wouldn’t have been the first choice for Rangers fans, but he’s a skilful midfielder, good with the ball at his feet and covers the ground well. He should do well at Rangers. Solanke is the player that Rangers fans would love to get from Liverpool but it seems that Klopp is going to wait on a decision for him until after the World Cup. His career at Liverpool is far more progressed than Ejaria’s – he made 27 appearances for the senior side last year, but only managed the one goal, in the final league game of the season. Rangers fans will just have to hope that Klopp sees Gerrard as the right manager to develop him, and that the lure of Europa League football – although far from nailed on – is enough to persuade him that Solanke would benefit from an Ibrox move.
