Emerson Royal will be deemed surplus to requirements at Tottenham this summer and is already looking for a new club, sources have told Football Insider

Royal is likely to fall victim to a “major” reshuffle as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad once the transfer window reopens.

The Brazilian international could be one of the first players to leave Spurs this summer following the Australian manager’s scathing comments surrounding the “rebuild” of his side.

The right-back, who is out of contract in June 2026, was the subject of interest from Saudi clubs in the January transfer window.

Emerson Royal to leave in Tottenham rebuild

There looks set to be a number of changes within the Tottenham squad this summer as Postecoglou looks to kick on next season.

While he enjoyed an excellent first few months in North London after making the move from Celtic in June 2023, the results have tailed off in this calendar year.

Spurs now find themselves seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, having lost four Premier League games in a row.

The Aussie will be far from impressed by his side’s defensive record after conceding 58 goals this season and he'll be looking to sell some players to generate cash for reinforcements at the back.

Royal is likely to be one of those players after he’s recently failed to impress filling in for the injured Destiny Udogie at left-back.

With the Brazilian slipping down the pecking order in his natural position at right-back, a reasonable offer could see him leave North London in a matter of weeks.
