Eric Dier aims cheeky dig at Tottenham teammate about winning trophies

By Amir Mir

Eric Dier aimed a cheeky dig at his Tottenham teammate Jan Vertonghen after the Belgian had beaten him in a board game.

The duo were competing with one another in a special Spurs edition of the classic board game, Guess Who.

Centre-back Vertonghen won two rounds against Dier and was clearly delighted at getting one over on his teammate.

However, Dier couldn’t help but aim this funny dig at his teammate about winning trophies as they exchanged these words during their interview with Sky Sports.

“You want to say something to the Belgian’s. Another victory for us,” Vertonghen asked Dier after winning the board game.

“Congratulation, it’s about time you won something,” Dier replied.

The defensive duo were speaking ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash against Southampton on Sunday afternoon at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping his team can continue their excellent form in front of their own supporters following their 6-0 FA Cup win against Millwall last time out.

During that match, the club’s star man, Harry Kane was forced off injured with an ankle injury and he is now set to spend a number of weeks on the sidelines.

Spurs will be looking to prove that they can cope without their top scorer who has scored 19 Premier League goals this season – only Romelu Lukaku has netted on more occasions.

Nonetheless, the north London club have picked up wins against the likes of Manchester City, West Ham and Chelsea on home soil during this campaign.
