Tottenham are ready to make a late August bid to sign Euro 2016 winner Adrien Silva, according to a report.

French publication L'Equipe claim that Spurs have set their sights on the Sporting Lisbon central midfielder.

It is said that Silva is at the top of manager Mauricio Pochettino's shortlist of transfer targets and a £13million bid will be submitted by the Londoners in the second half of August.

The 27-year-old has made 13 appearances for his country and was part of the Portugal squad that upset the odds by winning Euro 2016 in France, beating the hosts in the final.

Silva has scored 32 goals in 196 appearances for Sporting, along with registering 15 assists in a career where he has won the Taca de Portugal twice and the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira three times.

Known for his passing qualities, Silva is Sporting's midfield heartbeat and was crowned the club's player of the year in 2013.

Pochettino has already added Victor Wanyama from Southampton to his midfield line this summer alongside Vincent Janssen up front and is close to signing Marseille's Georges-Kevin N'Koudou.

There has been no word of an official bid from the North London outfit for the services of the Portugal international, but they will now await a response from Sporting regarding this registered interest.
