Galatasaray have denied reports suggesting Tottenham have completed a deal to sign winger Bruma in a deal worth £12.6million.
Turkish newspaper Sabah claimed Spurs “shook hands” with the Turkish giants over a deal for the 22-year-old speed machine, who is known for his blistering pace from out wide.
However, Galatasaray released a statement on their website rubbishing Sabah’s report, claiming that there is no offer or agreement between the two sides.
They also rejected claims that Bruma was looking to double his wages and that was the reason Galatasaray have agreed for him to leave.
Rejecting Sabah’s report, Galatasaray stated: ‘There is no official offer to reach us, just as there is no secret agreement for the price [with] the club that has been named [Tottenham].’
In what is a hands-off warning to Spurs, Galatasaray decided to go down the unusual route of issuing a statement over the future of their number 20.
Meanwhile Bruma continues to shine for the Turkish giants with eight goals and eight assists in 30 appearances this term.
The 12-time Portugal Under-21 international has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract under manager Igor Tudor.
Football Insider verdict:
It’s unusual for a club to release a public statement based on reports in the press, which makes it highly likely that they’re telling the truth and no deal exists between them and Tottenham for Bruma. However, that is also unlikely to be the end of it and we’d expect to see Tottenham pursue the deal. There’s a reason why Galatasaray have gone public and that’s likely to either deter prospective suitors like Tottenham or drive the price up. Either way, Bruma would be a great signing for Spurs as they look for squad depth ahead of another run in the Champions League next season.
