Report: European giants offer Tottenham star escape route after alleged contract talks
By Russell Edge
Real Madrid are ready to offer Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli a transfer move if the club do not meet his contractual demands, according to a report.
The Times claim on their website that the Spanish giants feel as though they have a real chance of securing the 21-year-old’s services during the transfer window and view him as following in the footsteps of former Spurs star Luka Modric.
The report states that Alli is on wages in the region of £50,000-a-week with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021, but that Spurs are looking to renegotiate the terms of his current deal.
Meanwhile the The Sun have claimed that the north London side have already opened contract talks with the former MK Dons man, stating that the midfielder is looking to earn over triple his current wages with a demand of £160,000-a-week, which would make him the club’s top earner.
As such, the Times say that if Spurs are unwilling to meet his demands, Real Madrid will be there to offer him an escape route from the club.

Alli finished last season as the top scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals, and has scored 35 times in 104 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham.
Football Insider verdict
Real Madrid’s reported interest in Alli significantly affects the club’s negotiating power in contract talks. He could claim that he has another option waiting for him and that he could simply walk away, leaving Spurs with just three options; to meet his demands, have an unhappy player at the club or sell him on. However the fact he has four years remaining on his deal means they can hold him to ransom somewhat, which leaves the situation at a bit of a stalemate. However Tottenham have to prove they have the ambition and ability to compete at the very highest level, with Real Madrid a very hard proposition to resist for a player. It appears that this is a saga which will drag on at least to the winter transfer window, when you can expect Los Blancos to show their hand if Tottenham have not already tied their promising star down.
