Brighton are confident of keeping Chelsea target Evan Ferguson at the club past this year's summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (12 January) that Ferguson, 19, features on a four-man striker shortlist at Stamford Bridge.

Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen, Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Ivan Toney of Brentford are also wanted by Chelsea - who are desperate to add a marquee striker signing in 2024.

Brighton

Brighton would consider the right offer for Ferguson - just as they did in last summer's window when Moises Caicedo secured a £115million move to Chelsea.

However, it has been widely reported that the Seagulls will again ask for a nine-figure fee to part with the Republic of Ireland international.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that it would be a "surprise" to see Chelsea fund such a move in either the January or summer window.

As such, sources say Brighton are confident of keeping Ferguson until at least 2025 - especially after he penned a bumper contract at the Amex Stadium last year.

The teenager's new agreement is set to run until June 2029.

Recruitment staff at Chelsea are well aware of Ferguson‘s talent and potential due to significant Brighton connections behind the scenes at the club.

He has hit six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this term – despite starting in just over half of those games.

The 19-year-old has already scored 12 Premier League goals in 38 games in the top flight.
