Everton striker Romelu Lukaku responds to reported interest from Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku has refused to deny a report that suggests Chelsea are interested in setting up a reunion with the Belgium international in the summer.
The Mirror claimed on Tuesday that the 23-year-old was on a shortlist, which also includes Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, and would be targeted if Chelsea lost Diego Costa to China.
Speaking to Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Wednesday, Lukaku kept his cards close to his chest when questioned over his former side’s interest in his services.
“I’m just focused on the season and I don’t really want to talk about it,” Lukaku declared. “Whatever you guys write about it, is what you guys write.
“But I’m focused on the season ahead with Everton.”

The striker was repeatedly linked with a move back to Chelsea last summer, and may now have been identified by top-ranking Chelsea chiefs as the man to replace Costa.
Lukaku, who left Chelsea in the summer of 2014 to join the Merseyside giants in a club-record transfer fee of £28million, has been in wonderful form for the Toffees this term.
The Belgium international has scored more than once every two games this season with 13 goals in 22 league and cup appearances.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton will do all they can to keep hold of star striker Lukaku, but everyone must know the writing’s on the wall. Even manager Koeman said he was destined for bigger things and that now looks likely to be Chelsea. Who knows what will happen with Diego Costa but the likely scenario is that they keep hold of him until the summer and then get a replacement who wants to play for the club. Lukaku has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge and all the stars seem to be aligning to get him there. The best Everton fans can hope for is that the potential move spurs him on to even bigger and better things for the rest of the season, possibly pushing Everton towards those European spots.
