Everton: Abdul Fatawu move looks closer as Leicester message released

Everton should be accelerating a move to sign Leicester City star Abdul Fatawu after he released a message on social media that pointed to his imminent exit from the East Midlands.

Fatawu has been a standout for Leicester throughout this season after deciding to stay at the club following relegation from the Premier League.

They have been unable to avoid a successive drop to League One, however, and he now looks likely to move on this summer.

Everton have been closely linked with a move for Fatawu as David Moyes tries to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season.

The Ghanaian’s latest message on socials should boost Everton’s transfer plans, as he is clearly preparing to leave Leicester very soon.

Abdul Fatawu hints at Leicester departure in new apology message

Leicester’s individual quality was not enough to stave off the drop, and they will return to the third tier next term just 10 years on from their historic Premier League triumph.

Fatawu was key to the Foxes’ promotion to the top flight in 2023-24, and he has continued to impress in the Championship this season, despite their struggles.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Everton remain keen on Fatawu and he wants to join a Premier League club this summer.

They are facing competition for his signature from Sunderland and Leeds United, though, and must accelerate a move as soon as possible to get him through the door on Merseyside.

The 22-year-old is very clearly looking to leave the King Power Stadium, with his latest Instagram post proving that he does not see his future at the club.

He took to the site on Monday to say: “Appreciate all the support from the beginning of the season till today, Foxes. (It) is disappointing to finish the season at this level. This was not what we work for and overall was not good enough.

“This club is amazing and deserved more than the position we are today. I believe this club will come back stronger to where it belongs.”

His statement was not taken well by Leicester fans, with many seeing it as a goodbye message of sorts rather than an apology for their relegation.

It feels as if he made a pretty obvious choice not to say that he will play a part in getting the Foxes back to where they belong, and Everton need to accelerate a move now that he has said his piece on socials.

Fatawu move could see Tyler Dibling loaned out by Everton

Dibling joined Everton for a club-record £42million fee from Southampton last August, but has not had the desired impact on Merseyside so far.

The 20-year-old has been unable to contribute to a goal in his 17 appearances for the club up to now, while he has started just four times and played for 350 minutes in the Premier League.

Sources have told Football Insider that Dibling could leave Everton this summer if he continues to fail to make an impact, and he certainly seems like the most likely winger to depart as they plan for the summer.

Fatawu’s arrival at the Hill Dickinson Stadium would see the ex-Southampton starlet fall even further down Moyes’ pecking order for game time on the right wing, and he will surely be loaned out if the Ghana international joins soon.
