Everton defender Ashley Young has agreed a contract extension to remain at Goodison Park, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources say Young is now signing a new 12-month deal after his contract was due to expire at the end of this month.

Everton are expected to make the announcement soon as they continue their preparations behind the scenes for next season.

Ashley Young experience the key behind new Everton deal

Young boasts a wealth of experience in the Premier League following his spells at Watford, Aston Villa and Manchester United.

After joining Everton on a free transfer from Villa last summer, the 39-cap England international started in 27 of his 31 Premier League outings last season.

Young mostly played at right-back in his first campaign at Goodison, but he also featured at left-back and on the right-hand side of midfield as he helped the club fight off relegation.

Sean Dyche is believed to have been a key figure behind the Merseysiders offering the veteran fresh terms ahead of him turning 39 next month.
