Everton backed to land 'brilliant' Koulibaly after intriguing Romano reveal
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly would be a “brilliant addition” to Everton this summer despite his age and price tag, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, lauded the 30-year-old who would bring an “invaluable” amount of experience to the Blues’ backline.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Don Robbie‘s YouTube channel (15th July), a move to Goodison Park “is a possibility” for Koulibaly this summer.
However, it is said that it will cost the Toffees roughly £60million to sign the Senegal international, who has two years remaining on his contract.
Whelan suggested it is a fair price for the centre-half who celebrated his 30th birthday last month.
“I think it’s a price worth paying,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He has been recognised as one of the best centre-halves in the world for some time now. Man United, Chelsea and City have looked at him.
“He is a leader at the back and a tough competitor and that is what Everton need. Not many centre-forwards enjoy playing 90 minutes against him, that’s for sure.
“Yes, he is 30 but there is still life in the old dog yet. He would bring so much experience to that backline and the younger players could learn a lot from him. It would be invaluable.
“If they could get that deal done, wow, that would be brilliant addition to their side. He would bring so much.”
