Paul Robinson has poured cold water on the idea of Everton spending £45million on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one suggested new Toffees manager Sean Dyche will instead spend £45million on three signings.

According to the Daily Mail (30 January), Everton have bid £45million for Gallagher.

However, the England international is said to have doubts over a move to Goodison Park.

He would instead prefer a move to a top-six club.

New Toffees manager Sean Dyche has money to spend on Deadline Day following Anthony Gordon's sale to Newcastle United.

When asked by Football Insider if Gallagher would be a welcome addition on Merseyside, Robinson said: "Gallagher doesn't strike me as a Sean Dyche player.

"Dyche is going to be given money because they managed to sell Gordon for a decent fee. I think they got a very good price for him.

"Gordon has not yet hit the heights that are expected of him. He is not at the top-class level yet so I think that is very good business for Everton considering their Financial Fair Play position.

"I do not think we will see Everton make one, big statement signing. Knowing Sean and having worked with Sean, I think he will sign two or three players he can rely on between now and the end of the season rather than one statement signing."
