Everton backed to sign at least one Chelsea star after journalist's Billy Gilmour update - pundit

Paul Robinson expects Everton to sign at least one Chelsea player this summer amid interest in Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Billy Gilmour.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one is adamant Frank Lampard will “try to utilise” his knowledge and contacts at Stamford Bridge to improve the Toffees.

Sources told this site on 20 July that Everton have registered their interest in signing Gallagher.

However, it is unclear as to whether Thomas Tuchel would allow the attacking midfielder to leave after an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.

According to inews‘ Mark Douglas (24 July), Everton are also interested in signing Broja and Gilmour from the Blues.

Lampard is said to want three major signings before the transfer window shuts after a quiet couple of months.

When asked by Football Insider if Lampard was smart to look to Stamford Bridge in the transfer market, Robinson said: “Frank has done that before at Derby.

“But when you look at the changes behind the scenes at Chelsea, the new ownership and the likes of Petr Cech leaving, you wonder what Frank’s relationship is like with the club.

“Who does he know? Does he have contacts in the backroom staff there?

“His knowledge of the players will still be there though. He will certainly try to utilise that system if he can.”

Broja excelled on loan at Southampton last season.

However, Gilmour struggled during his temporary spell at Norwich City.
