Everton backed to sign 'brilliant' Dumfries after reported update
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Holland international Denzel Dumfries amid interest from Everton in his signature.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 25-year-old will have “turned a lot of heads” with his “brilliant” performance against Ukraine.
Dumfries scored the winner for Frank de Boer’s side on Sunday as they opened their Euro 2020 campaign with a 3-2 win over Ukraine.
According to Dutch outlet ED, the Toffees are leading the race to sign the PSV Eindhoven right-back ahead of the likes of Inter Milan.
Everton are expected to be in the market for a right-sided full-back this summer with Seamus Coleman, 32, continuing to struggle with injury.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Dumfries, Robinson said: “Dumfries was brilliant the other night.

“He will have turned a lot of heads with that performance. I think he is one of many players at the Euros this summer who I think will be plying the trade in the Premier League next year. There will be a few more surprise packages for sure.
“Dumfries is a player who excelled in the opening game and I presume he was on Everton’s radar going into the tournament. I think there will be a lot of scouts and managers with a keen eye on players like him at the Euros.
“Everton need to sort out their continuity plans before they can make real strides in the transfer market though. You need to give your manager time to look at the squad he has got and potential inbounds before making any decisions on players.”
