Everton can compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona when it comes to wage expenditure.
That is according to finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that Everton fear losing Ancelotti to Real or Barca this summer.
Both Spanish giants are understood to be considering shaking things up in the managerial department after underwhelming seasons in Europe and La Liga.
Everton supremo Farhad Moshiri fears losing the three-time Champions League-winning manager despite him being the best-paid individual at Goodison.
But Maguire claims that the Toffees need not worry about being blown out of the water by either European juggernaut.
“In the present market, Everton can compete with those clubs,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“There’s no doubt that Real Madrid and Barcelona both have big debt problems and will be looking to constrain their wage budget.
“It is very unusual for a coach to earn more than the highest-paid player. But we are dealing with managerial royalty in Ancelotti.
“Under those circumstances, it’s not as bad. I suspect that Mourinho was possibly the highest-paid individual at Spurs as well.
“You pay a premium for figures of this nature. I think that has always been the case.”
Ancelotti took over at Everton in December 2019 after Marco Silva’s dismissal earlier that same month.
The Toffees finished 12th that season and are guaranteed a top-half finish going into their final fixture against Man City on Sunday.
