Everton could accept Dominic Calvert-Lewin offer after source's reveal - pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Everton could be forced to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that it could pose a “big problem” for the Toffees if they have to sell players to reinvest.

On Monday (22 May), this site revealed that Sean Dyche’s side will have no money to play with in the upcoming transfer market regardless of whether or not they are relegated.

The club are set to operate a sell-to-buy policy for the summer window meaning they will need to offload some of their more valuable assets to fund new signings.

Hutton suggested Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be one of the names forced out the door.

“That is the big problem with the Premier League nowadays you can’t stand still,” he told Football Insider.

You need to continue to invest, upgrade, bring in competition every transfer window and if you get left behind that is when you start to struggle.

It has been a really poor season for them, especially in front of goal. Defensively they have had problems as well. They need to stay in the league.

I think their current squad have underperformed. I think they are more than capable of finishing mid-table but they have not for whatever reason.

Moving forward if they are going to have to sell the likes of Calvert-Lewin to reinvest I think it could be a problem.”

Everton are currently one place outside of the relegation zone heading into the final day of the season.

But the Toffees are only two points clear of both Leicester City and Leeds United and must beat Bournemouth on Sunday to keep their Premier League dreams alive.
