Everton keen to hijack Arsenal transfer after offer tabled - reports

By Harry Sykes

Everton are still in with a chance of signing in-demand Bundesliga ace Sead Kolasinac, according to a report.

Sky Sports claim on their transfer centre blog (Wednesday, 1.51pm) that the Merseysiders are one of a number of leading clubs who have tabled a contract offer to the left-back, 23.

It is said that Arsenal, Manchester City and AC Milan have also offered deals to Kolasinac as they aim to strengthen their squads ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bosnian news outlet Reprezentacija claimed last Friday that Kolasinac had signed a pre-contract deal with the Gunners and will secure a move to Emirates Stadium when his deal at Schalke runs out at end of the season.

But Sky Sports report that Kolasinac has not yet made up his mind on where he will be playing next season and there is even a possibility that he could extend his six-year association with Schalke.

Sky Italy claim it is most likely the Bosnia-Herzegovina international will sign for Arsenal, but the uncertainty paves the way for Everton to hijack that potential transfer.

Kolasinac, who has missed the three of Schalke’s last four matches with a torn abductor muscle but has been a mainstay in the Schalke defence this term, has made 31 appearances in all competitions.

The assist machine has also made a huge impact in an attacking sense, netting three goals and laying on seven assists for his teammates.

He has also showed that he can play further forward in a left-sided attacking role and it is this versatility which is increasingly attractive for Everton and other clubs.

The experienced Bundesliga performer has also accumulated 23 caps for Bosnia-Herzegovinia despite representing Germany at youth level.

In other Everton transfer news, Lionel Messi has sensationally vetoed a mega-money Goodison Park signing.
