Agbonlahor: This is when Everton may sack Benitez after development
Rafael Benitez is in “big trouble” at Everton and could be sacked within “seven or eight games” at the start of the season.
So says ex-Premier League hitman Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ pre-season results.
Everton were thumped 4-0 by Man United at Old Trafford last Saturday (7 August) in Benitez‘s third non-competitive match at the helm.
They begin their Premier League campaign on 14 August against Southampton at Goodison Park.
Agbonlahor predicts that Everton fans will have little patience with Benitez if there are more results like Saturday’s pasting at the hands of United.
“Benitez is in big trouble,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“He is going to have seven or eight games and if they don’t go right, he could be gone very quickly.
“Those fans are going to be gunning for blood straight away. He has not got time to have any bad results.
“I just feel the inevitable will happen there at Everton. Their squad isn’t really good enough to challenge for the top four and that’s what Everton fans want.
“It’s a lose-lose for the club and Rafa Benitez. But if you are a neutral, it could be entertaining watching what happens at Everton.”
Benitez was appointed as Toffees manager in late June following the shock departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid.
The Spaniard spent six years at Liverpool and won the Champions League with them in 2005.
