Everton could sign Van de Beek in January after confirmed Man United news - pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Everton could sign Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United in January after late-window talks this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the 24-year-old would be gutted with how his Old Trafford career has gone so far.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, as quoted by the Athletic, the midfielder’s agent, Guido Albers, confirmed he held talks with Everton chiefs Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri over a potential move this summer.
However, the move was blocked by Manchester United the day before the transfer deadline.
Van de Beek has struggled for game time at Old Trafford.
As such, Whelan suggested a temporary move could be on the cards in the winter window.

Asked about the prospect of Everton signing van de Beek on loan in January, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: Yeah, I think that’s that’s probably the right thing.
“A player that came in with really high expectations.
“Recommended from abroad, being watched as one of the best young midfield players coming through at the time.
“He’s not really had the chance at Manchester United. It’s been bit parts.
“I think for a player who came in with such a high recommendation, to not be playing as regularly as he has done, it’s disappointing for the player.
“It’s probably disappointing for the club but they have so much strength in depth. To force your way into that you’ve got to be exceptional.
“Is he going to take Fernandes’ place? You’ve got Fred who’s got a new lease of life.
“McTominay seems to be ahead of him as well. You’re looking fourth or fifth in the pecking order. You’ve got Pogba as well.”
