Everton crowd tipped for unprecedented development v Liverpool after footage emerges - pundit

The Goodison Park crowd will “turn like never before” if Liverpool score first against Everton during Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Everton are “dreadful” to watch at the moment and the fans will not “forgive” Benitez’s Liverpool past.

The travelling Toffees support reacted angrily to the players and manager after their 1-0 loss to Brentford at the weekend, as shown in footage shared by All Everton on Twitter.

It extended Everton’s goalless run to four Premier League games and their winless run to seven.

“To be honest, I said before that I’m not having Benitez,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Being the former Liverpool manager with the success he had there it wasn’t right. He has done it because his family still lives in the area and he’s happy to stay there.

“I got hammered for saying that, people were saying ‘How dare you’. Let’s see what these Everton fans are like when Liverpool score the first goal at Goodison Park. They will turn like never before.

“It was OK at the beginning when they were scoring and winning games but now they look so stale. Watching them at the weekend, they were dreadful.

“Those Everton fans will turn. They won’t care that Calvert-Lewin is injured, they will turn on Benitez. He needs to be showing they can get into the top six for the fans to forgive him for being the ex-Liverpool manager. It’s going to be a strange game to watch.”

Everton beat Liverpool in the last Merseyside derby 2-0 at Anfield back in February.

It was their first win over their city rivals since their victory of the same scoreline at Goodison Park in October 2010.
