Kieran Maguire: Everton deal close as investors visit Bramley-Moore - 'this is real progress'

Investors interested in bankrolling the Everton move to Bramley-Moore Dock will be keen to get on board with the project as early as possible – and a deal now appears to be edging closer.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest developments behind the scenes as the Toffees look to secure funding for the new stadium.

Everton hope to move into the 52,888-seater arena in time for the 2024-25 campaign but owner Farhad Moshiri is still seeking external investment to help finance construction.

The British-Iranian billionaire will part-finance the project but cannot commit the full £500million it is expected to cost to see it through to completion.

As quoted by GIVEMESPORT last Saturday (3 December), journalist Paul Brown claimed that a group of would-be investors were recently shown around the Bramley-Moore site.

Maguire suggests that this could be a sign that things are accelerating in the search for investment.

“Anyone that has travelled through Liverpool will have seen the real progress that is being made at Bramley-Moore Dock,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Therefore, there is no reason this cannot be extended to potential commercial partners and investors.

“They may be effectively showing them what they could win if they decide to get involved at an early stage.

The earlier a potential investor gets onboard, the greater the potential benefits.

“That is because if Bramley-Moore proves to be a success and you get on the train too late, the benefits go to someone else rather than yourself.”
