Everton are expected to sack Sean Dyche if they lose against Leicester City and Crystal Palace, sources have told Football Insider.

The pressure is intensifying on the 53-year-old after a dismal start to the season which has left the club winless and bottom of the Premier League.

The board values Dyche for steering Everton away from relegation during a tumultuous 20 months in charge, but upcoming fixtures against Leicester and Palace will be crucial to his short-term job prospects.

Sources have told Football Insider that defeat in both matches against rival clubs could now result in Dyche's dismissal.

Everton were beaten 3-2 by Aston Villa on Saturday despite leading the game 2-0 and have lost their first four games of a season for the first time in 66 years.

The former Burnley boss has also entered the final 12 months of his contract at Goodison Park.

There is a growing sense in the Everton boardroom that fans are turning against Dyche, with jeers from the stands greeting calamitous recent collapses.

Dyche’s men have struggled defensively in the opening four matches, having conceded 13 goals.

Everton could escape the relegation zone with a victory this weekend if other results go in their favour, but another loss would also take Dyche a step closer to losing his position.

The board believes that the former West Ham manager is capable of taking the club to the next level.
