Everton expert fires Anthony Gordon warning after Tottenham deal twist

Kevin Campbell has claimed Everton ace Anthony Gordon would not start enough games if he were to join Tottenham or another big-six club.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 21-year-old would have to “develop into a starter” if he left Merseyside.

Football Insider revealed during the summer window (23 August) that Tottenham were exploring a last-gasp bid for Gordon after holding preliminary talks with Everton – with Chelsea also making a number of bids for the Liverpool-born star.

The winger remained at Goodison Park but has yet to make a breakthrough in contract talks – with his current deal set to expire in June 2025.

According to (20 November), Tottenham are continuing to monitor Gordon’s situation ahead of the January transfer window.

The England Under-21 international has netted three goals in 14 Premier League games this season and scored a hat-trick in a friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday (23 November).

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Where are Spurs going to play him?

“They’ve got Kane, Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski, Lucas Moura – where does Gordon fit in?

“I just don’t know.

“He’s making waves and doing pretty well at Everton. But it’s potential that you’re buying. I just don’t see him starting for Spurs.

“He would have to develop into a starter in that team.

“Spurs aren’t the only team after him, of course – Chelsea are after him too.

“But I just don’t think he goes to any of those sides right now and starts the number of games he will want.”

In other news, expert “wouldn’t be surprised” if Tottenham sign Youssoufa Moukoko after source’s reveal.
