Everton turn to Italy as they eye up a free-scoring partner for Lukaku - report

By Alex Taylor

Everton are eyeing a move for AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang as a possible partner for Romelu Lukaku, according to a report.

Niang has spent the last four years in Italy but Milan are believed to be considering allowing the Frenchman to leave this summer.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Toffees are keeping tabs on the striker ahead of a possible summer move.

New billionaire Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has given Ronald Koeman’s side new-found financial stability this summer, but the uncertain future of star striker Romelu Lukaku could tempt the Iranian businessman into an early move in the transfer market.

Niang, 21, who spent the second half of the 2014-15 season on loan at Genoa before returning to Milan last summer, scored five goals and supplied five assists in 16 Serie A matches this season, in which he missed large chunks through injury.

It is reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport that Niang has his heart set on a transfer to the Premier League and is particularly keen on a move to Goodison Park.

Everton are keen to add a striker to their squad even if Romelu Lukaka is persuaded to remain at Goodison Park.

Niang can play centrally or out wide, and has scored a total of nine goals in 59 appearances for AC Milan.
