Everton are plotting to made a stunning record bid for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that the Toffees are prepared to stump up a club record fee worth £60million to sign Aubameyang, 28, when the transfer window re-opens next month in a bid to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku’s summer move to Manchester United.
It is understood that the Merseyside club has the finances to pull of such a coup with Dortmund ready to cash in and the Gabon international, who is known for his rapid pace, eager to make a move to the Premier League.
Sam Allardyce is said to be a huge fan of the Borussia Dortmund;s lethal goal machine, who has averaged almost a goal-per-game this season with 19 strikes in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Ronald Koeman spent over £100million in the summer but never replaced Lukaku and was ultimately sacked in October due to a terrible start to the season.
It is now reported that Allardyce already has his mind set on curing that problem with speed demon Aubameyang amazingly on his radar.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton would be pretty much pulling off the signing of the season if they manage to complete a move for Aubameyang. The Gabon international seems to be be unhappy at Dortmund and is eager to move to the Premier League. However with all the top sides having a star striker among their ranks, Everton may prove to be the next best option. Aubemeyang is a reliable source of goals and could easily get into most teams in the English top-flight. His record at Dortmund is amazing and would be sure to continue his form anywhere in Europe. He is fast, good in the air and has a brilliant eye for goal. Allardyce absolutely must pull this move off.
