Everton have been linked with a move for Stoke City midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after the Potters were relegated from the Premier League.

But fans aren’t particularly blown away with the fact they are targeting the free-scoring midfielder and would prefer to see Ademola Lookman back in the nest instead.

The Swiss international has reportedly caught the eye of the Toffees, who are presumably impressed with the 26-year-old’s record in front of goal, despite the fact that the club has dropped out of the division.

Eight goals with six assists to boot and a reported £12million release clause would catch the eye of most clubs and their supporters, but seemingly not the Blues.

With Lookman starting to fire on all cylinders whilst on loan at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, fans want to see the England youth international given a chance to showcase his talents at Goodison Park.

The 20-year-old made just one start for Everton this season before his switch to Germany in January where he has been getting minutes under his belt and delivering – with four goals and two assists in ten appearances.

Leipzig are keen to see the player stay on this summer which means Blues fans may not get their wishes after all.

Here is a round-up of reaction from Everton supporters after hearing about Shaqiri:
