Everton are reportedly interested in Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson – and the club’s supporters were full of high praise for him on Sunday.

The 27-year-old scored a brilliant free-kick on Sunday in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

The Liverpool Echo have claimed that the Toffees are interested in a summer move for the creative playmaker.

The report details that manager Ronald Koeman is a big admirer of the Iceland international and could return with a summer bid, despite being a £28million offer rebuffed in January.

Sigurdsson has become recognised as a goalscoring midfielder at the Liberty Stadium and has been in good form this season in a struggling Swansea side.

He has made 37 appearances this campaign across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and supplying 12 assists.

Everton fans have raved about the qualities of Sigurdsson and wouldn’t mind him at Goodison Park next season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Sigurdsson completed a move to Swansea after failing to cement his spot at Tottenham, but has certainly proved he is Premier League quality.

The playmaker is expected to force a move if his side are relegated to the Championship and Everton seem keen on his services.

Koeman has quite often used Ross Barkley as his creative playmaker, but they may need some extra firepower if they are to break into the top six.

In other Everton transfer news, they are set to break the bank to sign a £60million-rated defender.
