Everton fans have conveyed their anger on social media after horrific defensive displays from both Ashley Williams and Ramiro Funes Mori against Tottenham.

The senior duo failed to cope with Spurs’ quick, energetic football all afternoon and their poor work contributed massively to the 3-2 loss.

Harry Kane scored a brace before Romelu Lukaku made the most of a rare Jan Vertonghen mistake to pull a goal back.

Dele Alli took advantage of a sleeping Everton defence to reopen a two goal margin before Enner Valencia tapped in a goal that was a mere consolation if anything.

Despite issues all over the pitch for Ronald Koeman’s side, fans have pinpointed the root of their downfall as being the dismal centre-back pairing of Williams and Funes Mori.

The Wales international captain looked slow and sluggish in comparison to the likes of Kane, Alli and Christian Eriken who ran circles around him all afternoon.

Funes Mori didn’t have much luck all afternoon either.

The 26-year-old didn’t take long to become frustrated, which led him to make rash decisions and completely lose concentration enough to see himself out of position, not marking anyone at set-pieces and making reckless fouls.

Everton fans weren’t happy with the pair and made their feelings known on social media.

Here is a selection of tweets from the supporters:

Everton will now hope they can return to winning ways when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Goodison Park next Saturday.
