'Boss news', 'What a club' - Everton fans react to club agreeing defender deal

Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the news that Seamus Coleman has signed a five year contract at the club.

The right-back completes the deal despite currently being out injury having suffered a double leg fracture while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in March.

The deal, which was completed prior to his injury, ties the 28-year-old to Goodison Park until 2022.

Coleman signed for the Toffees for just £60,000 when he moved from Sligo Rovers in 2009 and has since gone on to make almost 250 appearances for the club.

Speaking to Coleman was obviously pleased to have signed a new deal.

“I’m delighted to get this signed,” Coleman said. “I’ve been here for a long time and it’s a special Club that means a lot to me.

“I want to prove my worth when I come back and show the Club were right for rewarding me with this long-term contract.

“I’m really excited by the way things are going and the players we have signed.”

The Toffees faithful were pleased to see Coleman sign a new contract.

The 43-time Republic of Ireland international has been a regular at Everton this season prior to breaking his leg, and had made 28 league and cup appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
