By Richard Parks
Everton have announced that rising star Antony Evans has agreed the terms of a new contract – and fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight.
The Mereysiders have revealed on their official website and Twitter account that attacker Evans, 19, has signed a two-and-a-half-year agreement.
It will keep the two-times England Under-19 international at Goodison Park until at least the summer of 2020.
Everton supporters have given the deal the thumbs-up on social media, with some joking that there were still holding out for the long-awaited announcement of Idrissa Gueye’s new contract.

The attacking midfielder has impressed for Everton’s Under-23s this season, showing genuine quality from a variety of positions that has caught the eye of second-string boss David Unsworth.
In 13 Premier League 2 games, Evans has found the back of the net four times, made up of doubles against big hitters Arsenal and Tottenham.
Evans has previously had a loan spell at League Two outfit Morecambe in the second half of last season and revealed he is willing to go on loan again to fast-track his development in senior football.
“Everton is a great club and I am delighted to sign for another couple of years,” Evans said. “I wanted to get a foothold in the team [this season], kick on and get a contract.
“We have a new [first-team] manager and new ways, so it is an exciting time at the club. Ultimately, I want to try to get in the first team, whether that is going on loan again or staying with the Under-23s and continuing to perform consistently.”
