'Our season gets worse and worse' - Everton fans react to 'ridiculously rough' club news

Everton fans took to Twitter in panic when they heard they had been drawn against Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Merseyside Derby is the standout game of the draw and will take place at Anfield in the first weekend of January.

However Toffees fans are not happy at the prospect of playing the Reds in the tie, with one asking if the club had killed a unicorn in order to end up with that fixture.

Another fan commented that the draw was simply another case of Everton’s season getting worse and worse.

However, the Toffees have won their last two league games to climb into the top half of the table.

They face their bitter rivals next in the Premier League too, in what is now a precursor for the plumb FA Cup clash.

Here are the best tweets from worried Everton fans:

The last time the two sides met in this competition was in 2012 and Liverpool were 2-1 winners on that occasion.

Everton did eliminate the Reds from the tournament in 2009 when Dan Gosling scored the only goal of the game to settle a fourth round replay between sides.

In other Everton news, BBC Sports pundit Garth Crooks has heaped praise on this much-criticised Everton star.
