Oumar Niasse scored the matchwinner for Hull in their 2-0 triumph against Liverpool on Saturday – and Everton fans on Twitter could not contain their delight.

The on-loan Everton striker came off the bench midway through the second half at the KCOM Stadium to dent Liverpool’s title hopes with the match-clinching second goal after 84 minutes.

It was the first goal of the season for Niasse, who had been frozen out by Everton before securing a January transfer to Hull for the remainder of the campaign.

Everton fans, who were celebrating a 6-3 win by their team against Bournemouth on Saturday, took to social media to react with humour to the rare goal by the Senegal international against their biggest rivals.

The results on Saturday mean that Everton have consolidated their place at seventh in the league table and are now just six points behind Liverpool in fourth.

Niasse joined Everton for £13million last January from Lokomotiv Moscow but despite being a regular scorer in Russia and making eight appearances for the Senegal national team, has barely been seen at Goodison, making just seven senior appearances for the club.

Jurgen Klopp has now lost five of his past eight games in all competitions; as many as he had in his previous 32 games in charge of Liverpool beforehand.
