Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was confirmed that manager Sam Allardyce has been sacked from his role at Goodison Park.

The Toffees announced on their official Twitter account and official website that Allardyce, 63, has left the Merseyside club in a short statement.

Allardyce was hired by Everton in November in a botched search to replace Ronald Koeman which took over a month to conclude.

It was widely reported at the time that chairman Bill Kenwright was the main supporter in bringing Allardyce to Goodison Park, while majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri wanted to take a chance on a less-proven pair of hands like then-Watford boss Marco Silva.

Allardyce has struggled to endear himself to supporters on Merseyside and even though he took charge of the club in a relegation battle to an eighth-placed finished – just one place lower than what Koeman achieved last year – his time at Goodison has ended one-year early.

Everton fans were delighted with the news that Allardyce had been removed from his role and took to Twitter to celebrate.
