Everton fans react on Twitter to new Schneiderlin speculation

By Emma Sanders

Everton fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after it emerged Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is set to undergo a medical at the club.

The Manchester Evening News claim Schneiderlin was to report for a medical at Everton’s Finch Farm headquarters on Friday in a twist to the lengthy transfer saga between Everton and United.

The French international has been out of favour at United ever since Jose Mourinho took over in the summer and he is believed to be keen to join forces with Ronald Koeman.

The Blues have been heavily linked with Schneiderlin since last month so fans were relieved to hear negotiations appear to be moving in their favour.

However, the latest development suggests Everton are closing in on their second January signing after they announced the purchase of Ademola Lookman from Charlton on Thursday.

Schneiderlin has well and truly been knocked down the pecking order at United and he has featured just eight times this season and only three times in the Premier League.

All of those league appearances have been as a substitute and he has played the full 90 minutes on only one occasions, which was way back in September during the 1-0 defeat against Feyenoord in the Champions League.

It is believed United are wanting to receive the full £24 million they paid for Schneiderlin when he signed from Southampton in 2015 but most Everton fans are content if the club are prepared to spend the money.
