Everton fans react on Twitter as West Ham confirm David Moyes appointment

By Danny Wright

Everton fans on Twitter believe that they have “dodged a bullet” after West Ham confirmed David Moyes as their new manager on Tuesday morning.

The Hammers announced on their official Twitter account that Moyes, 54, had replaced Slaven Bilic in charge at the London Stadium, less than 24 hours after he was sacked.

Moyes had one of the longest managerial reigns in Premier League history at Everton before he left them for Manchester United in 2013.

The Glasgow-born manager spent 11 years in the Goodison Park hotseat before his career took a downward spiral when he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at United.

Since then, spells at Real Socieded and Sunderland have failed to restore his tattered reputation as a manager, especially last season when he oversaw the Black Cats’ relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham have now decided to give Moyes another shot at managing in the English top-flight as they look to force their way out of the relegation zone.

Everton are currently looking for a new manager of their own after Ronald Koeman was sacked two weeks ago, and although the hunt for the Dutchman’s successor is still on-going, most Toffees fans seem to just be happy that Moyes did not return to Merseyside.

Here is a selection of their tweets:
