Kenny salutes Townsend as another 'brilliant' Everton signing completed
Andros Townsend will make an “excellent” squad player at Everton – but he is also a “brilliant speaker” and ambassador off the pitch.
So says former top-flight shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Everton confirmed the signing on 20th July.
That came after this site revealed the previous day that the 30-year-old winger had passed a medical and penned a two-year Goodison deal.
Townsend, 13-cap England international, was one of 22 players released by Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
The former Spurs and Newcastle man is a regular contributor to talkSPORT and appeared on ITV’s Euros coverage this summer.
Kenny revealed he is a big admirer of Townsend’s media work and insisted that he will be a hit on Merseyside.

“He’ll make the squad better, 100 per cent,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“I love him, I love listening to him on the radio. He’s a brilliant speaker and he’ll make a really good signing as a squad player.
“He’s experienced and he’s still a quality player. He might be 30 but he is still a fit lad. He’ll be good to have in the dressing room.
“I’m sure he’ll enhance the squad and the whole club and do really well at Everton.“
Townsend scored one goal and supplied five assists for Palace in the league last term.
He featured 185 times for the club after signing from Newcastle in 2016.
