Everton are keen on signing Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Merseysiders hold "concrete" interest in bringing Dendocker, 28, to Goodison Park in the off-season.

The Belgian was sent out on loan from Villa Park to Serie A giants Napoli in January for the remainder of the season, but it is believed this is not expected to be converted into a permanent deal.

Leander Dendoncker to join Everton this summer?

This has opened the door for Sean Dyche's side to make a swoop for the former Wolves star and they are hopeful they can buy him for reasonable terms.

Since moving to Italy, Dendoncker has made just three appearances in all competitions - late substitute outings in the league totalling just 21 minutes of action.

He also struggled to make an impact at Aston Villa this season, having made just one start in the Premier League before his loan.

However, Everton are expected to sanction high-profile player sales this summer amid their ongoing financial turmoil and will look for cost-effective signings to fill these gaps.

Dendoncker's contract at Villa Park expires in June 2026 after joining the club in 2022 from Wolves for a reported £13million.

Everton sit 16th in the Premier League table after their 1-0 win against Burnley last week (6 April).

They are next in action against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night (15 April).
