Everton are interested in signing goalkeeper Andriy Lunin from Ukrainian top-flight club Zorya Luhansk, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claims in its live transfer blog (6:46pm, Friday) that new Toffees director of football Marcel Brands is keen on a move for the 19-year-old.
It is understood that 6ft 3in (source: Transfermrkt) colossus is also in the radar of Merseyside rivals Liverpool after a string of impressive displays from the Ukraine international.
Football Insider verdict:
Lunin is an exciting young prospect that has been a key player for Zorya this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in his 36 appearances across all competitions and that included a taste of the Europa League. The shot-stopper is already proving himself at senior level and could be a strong option at Goodison Park moving forward. However, England international Jordan Pickford is the number one options as it stands and looks set to hold on to the gloves for the foreseeable future. Liverpools’ reported interest in Lunin suggests that he does have a lot of potential, but at the age of just 19 it seems unlikely he could make an impact on the Premier League yet. He may be best served staying in his homeland Ukraine for another season or two before making a big-money move elsewhere. Lunin can continue to build his reputation as a promising young goalkeeper and eventually he will be snapped up.
