Everton news: Robinson makes 'incredible' Jordan Pickford claim after footage emerges
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Everton number one Jordan Pickford after his heroic performance against Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper claimed Pickford, 28, performs better under pressure as he "not fazed by the big occasion."
Pickford pulled off a number of brilliant saves on Sunday as the Toffees grabbed a vital three points against Chelsea.
As shown by Sky Sports (1 May), England's number one made an incredible stop to deny Cesar Azpilicueta in the second half.
The save would prove decisive with the score finishing 1-0 at Goodison Park.
When asked for his assessment of Pickford's display, Robinson told Football Insider's Dylan Childs:
"People will always have an opinion on a goalkeeper and especially an England number one.
"Goalkeepers will let goals in, that is a fact of life whether you are England's number one or number 10. Everybody will have an opinion so what is key is how mentally strong you are.
"Jordan has done incredible well for England in big moments. He proved again at the weekend that he is the man for the big occasion. He is not fazed by the big occasion at all. The occasion brings out the best of him. He plays even better in bigger games.
"On the whole, I think he's had a good season in a very poor Everton team. For a goalkeeper to come out of a relegation-threatened season with credit shows the level he is at."
