Everton set to make first signing of the summer by raiding PL rivals - report
By Danny Wright
Everton are set to make Cuco Martina their first signing of the summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Toffees are close to completing a raid of their Premier League rivals Southampton as Ronald Koeman aims to provide cover for the injured Seamus Coleman.
It is understood that the 27-year-old will move to Goodison Park on a free transfer as his soon-to-expire contract at St. Mary’s Stadium will not be renewed after falling out of favour with Saints boss Claude Puel.
Martina has started just six league games this season and hasn’t played first-team football since Southampton were thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal in the FA Cup during January.
The Daily Mail states that Koeman is looking to add considerable depth to his squad as they embark on a Europa League campaign next season.

The competition is infamous for catching teams out and is said to have an impact on league performance for anyone who takes part in it.
Martina doesn’t have European experience to hand but did have spells in Holland and Belgium before moving to Southampton.
The ex-FC Twente right-back has made a total of 36 appearances for the Saints and scored one goal.
Football Insider Verdict
Martina isn’t a player known to have a lot of quality, but Koeman needs to add depth to his squad over the summer and the 27-times Curacao international would definitely be enough to stand in for Coleman while he recovers from a broken leg. Injuries caught Everton out towards the end of the season. Luckily for the Merseysiders their season was almost ended but if it happened around the festive period they would have perhaps found themselves in a mid-table battle. Martina is a smart signing but won’t be one to get the Goodison Park faithful jumping off of their seats.
