Rodriguez is 'bleeding Everton dry' amid 'staggering' £24m reveal - Whelan
James Rodriguez is “bleeding Everton dry” and has shown “massive disrespect” to the club.
So says ex-Premier League forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the wantaway 30-year-old Colombian playmaker.
This site revealed on 12 September that the Toffees had failed to offload the 2020 signing this summer because of his goliath £250,000-a-week wages.
Rodriguez signed a two-year deal upon his arrival at Goodison and could end up costing the club £24million if he stay for the duration of his contract.
New manager Rafael Benitez had given his blessing for the former Real Madrid man to quit the club in the recently closed transfer window.
But he has remained at the club despite the fact he is yet to make an appearance this season.

Whelan savaged Rodriguez for his refusal to budge on his wage demands.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “It’s staggering wages for a player who has the ability but hasn’t shown it consistently.
“If you are paying that money, they need to be the difference. You have now got a player who is bleeding Everton dry who doesn’t want to be there.
“It’s a massive show of disrespect from a player who doesn’t want to be there.
“He has ability but he doesn’t want to go and do it out on the field for the players and the fans. I don’t understand that mentality.
“If you could sack a player, I’d sack him and give him nothing. You play for the club that is putting food on your table and clothing your kids.
“To me, it’s huge disrespect to a club who are looking to go on to bigger and better things. He has jumped ship and it’s shocking.”
