Everton may sell Amadou Onana to Roma if the club are taken over by Dan Friedkin, sources have told Football Insider.

Friedkin, the current president of Roma with his company owning over 95% of the club, has been granted an exclusivity agreement to acquire Everton's controlling stake from Farhad Moshiri which could make the transfer of Onana to the Stadio Olimpico much smoother.

The midfielder, currently at Euro 2024 with Belgium, is in demand with Football Insider [21 June] revealing Everton would be open to selling Onana in order to keep Jarrad Branthwaite and toe the line of Premier League financial rules.

Everton are attempting to land a £50m fee for the 22-year-old, whose contract on Merseyside runs until 2027, but are likely to accept an offer in the region of £40m to ease their financial burden.

Everton may strike quick deal with Roma for Onana

Whilst Everton have been anticipating the loss of Onana this summer regardless, a takeover completion by Friedkin would help along a transfer to Roma considerably.

The Serie A club's manager, Daniele de Rossi, is a fan of the midfielder who holds several similarities to the former Italian international's playing days.

Onana's camp, however, know the interest and potential options the Belgian has, and will approach the coming days and weeks carefully.

As the time ticks on, Onana's performances at the Euros are also being monitored as Belgium set up a mouth-watering Round of 16 tie against France.
