Everton tipped to sanction multiple January transfers after £33m development - pundit

Everton could sanction multiple player exits after signing Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko this week.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ busy start to the January window.

Everton have confirmed the signings of Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev and Patterson from Rangers.

Football Insider understands the Toffees have paid an initial £12million, rising to £16million with add-ons, to sign Patterson.

BBC Sport report (1 January) that Mykolenko could cost Everton as much as £17million.

As a result, Kenny insists the club could sanction multiple exits this month.

“We know there are issues at Everton,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have been a bit reckless with their spending in the past and they didn’t spend much in the summer.

“These two players have come in now so you would expect that some players need to leave.

“They have a bit of a bloated squad anyway so maybe getting rid of a few fringe players is the way to go.

“The squad needs an overhaul. We all know that so two fresh faces coming in and a few leaving can only be good news.

“It just depends on how much they can get for those players. Hopefully, they aren’t forced to sell a high-profile player.”

Mykolenko made his Everton debut on Saturday (8 January) as his new side beat Hull 3-2 in the FA Cup.

Patterson was an unused sub.
